The Meetings Show is back - and the focus is on you

The UK’s leading event for the inbound and outbound meetings industry is returning for 2019, and this year the focus is all on you.

Taking place on 26 and 27 June at Olympia London, the show will be bringing together 4,500 industry professionals, including more than 600 venues, destinations and suppliers, for two days of meetings, networking and learning opportunities.

Whether you plan board meetings for 10 or large-scale events for thousands, you’ll find plenty of inspiration for your next event at the show. This year The Meetings Show has its biggest international representation to date, including 23 destinations and partners exhibiting at the show for the first time, including Jordan Convention Bureau, Philippines Tourism Board and Barbados Tourism.

Visitors will also have the chance to discover new and exciting venues, and learn about the latest developments in meeting and event technology, with Silent Seminars, Headbox, Avery UK, Pheedloop, Aventri, Evolution Dome, One World Rental, Eventmobi and Meetingsbooker.com among the technology suppliers attending the show for the first time.

There will also be access to more than 40 hours of completely free-to-attend education, and this year the programme is set to be more engaging than ever, with an exciting range of speakers from outside the industry and sessions delivered in an innovative range of formats.

The theme of the education programme is ‘the planner journey’, which will be split into seven stages of event planning, ensuring no matter what level you’re at or what your job role is, there will be something that inspires you. From festivalisation, gamification and creativity to sustainability, social media and ROI, the programme will highlight all the latest trends and provide you with the information you need for the year ahead.

To bolster engagement, this year The Meetings Show will deliver sessions in a variety of innovative formats. For example, join experienced business drama actors in ‘Staff Retention – An exploration of challenges using drama’ on Wednesday 26 June as they act out some familiar scenarios, or work as a team on a real brief in interactive session ‘Brief. Process. Pitch’ on Thursday 27 June.

In addition to hosting interactive workshops and one-on-one advice sessions with experts, The Meetings Show will draw on inspiration from outside the meetings and events industry by involving some awe-inspiring keynote speakers.

Opening the show’s education programme on Wednesday 26 June is Colin Maclachlan, former SAS soldier and star of Channel Four’s reality drama ‘SAS: Who Dares Wins’ and Channel 5’s ‘Secrets of the SAS’. Colin will use the experience he’s gained over an exciting and varied career to talk about security and risk, as well as the importance of emotional resilience, leadership, teamwork, motivation and performance.

On the second day of the show, pioneering technology researcher Carl Miller will be taking to the stage to talk about ‘The Changing Digital Landscape’. Co-founder of the Centre for the Analysis of Social Media at Demos and author of over a dozen major reports on how the digital world is changing society, politics and policing, Carl is an expert in the influence of digital technology on modern society.

There will also be a one-day Pre-Show Conference taking place on Tuesday 25 June, which is exclusively open to those who have applied for and been accepted onto The Meetings Show’s hosted buyer programme. This will be followed by the Hosted Buyer Welcome Reception, which this year will be hosted by high-tech mini golf venue Puttshack.

As always, there will be plenty of opportunities for networking and meeting with industry friends throughout the main show as well, with official show, exhibitor and partner events, as well as post-show fam trips being hosted by several destinations.
