Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I) is a critical element of any organisation
What does equity, diversity, and inclusion mean?
ED&I ensures fair treatment and opportunity for all. It aims to eradicate prejudice and discrimination on the basis of an individual or group of individual's protected characteristics.
In addition to adopting a robust approach to the association’s own ED&I policies, the mia has partnered with specialists in this area to provide resources to support members’ ED&I needs.
ED&I is a critical element of any organisation. Beyond the required regulatory compliance, the CIPD describes ED&I as being “about creating working environments and cultures where every individual can feel safe, a sense of belonging and is empowered to achieve their full potential.” (Source: CIPD website)
ED&I Policy Template
HR Solutions has created a customisable ED&I policy template for mia members to use. This free of charge template can be accessed by making an appointment with the HR Solutions team here and selecting MIA Members.
ED&I knowledge and support
In addition to adopting a robust approach to the association’s own ED&I policies, the mia is working with industry colleagues to provide members with a suite of resources to give guidance that could support their ED&I needs.
Members looking to build their knowledge and tap into expert guidance on ED&I matters can benefit from the mia’s collaboration with New Intent, a pro-social organisation that is dedicated to helping events realise their potential to change the world and puts diversity, equity, inclusion, and environmental transformation first.
State of the industry ED&I survey
Crafting a successful ED&I strategy is an ongoing process. To help us understand the current ED&I situation in the meetings industry, the mia and other industry professional bodies ABPCO and ICCA UK & Ireland, have partnered with New Intent to gather insights in an anonymous survey. The information gathered has now been shared by New Intent and all participating organisations and can be found by clicking the link below.
