In the spotlight: Dan Elliott, Butlin's Conferences & Events

Butlin's Conferences & Events in Skegness, Bognor Regis and Minehead have recently joined the mia. Here we caught up with national sales manager, Dan Elliott, to find out why they felt it was important to enter membership.  

As a brand we felt it was extremely important to be part of the mia. As the industry is still in recovery mode after coming out of COVID-19, we felt that it was important to engage with the industry. Now more than ever we need to ensure that we are part of shaping the future of the industry and the best way to that was by joining the mia.  I believe that this is the perfect time to be part of the association. As you get out what you put in, we will be very active with our input and support for the mia and all of the amazing events that they provide for the industry.   

What does AIM Secure accreditation mean for your three conference and events venues? 

Accreditation was not something we wanted but we needed. As a business we are extremely passionate about providing world class conference and events and the only way that you can show the industry, our corporate guests and agency partners that we are serious, is by getting accreditation. From multiple venues with state-of-the-art AV, accommodation, multiple restaurants, and leisure facilities, we wanted to ensure that everything in our proposition was covered and part of the accreditation.  

What can event planners expect from Butlin’s this year – we’ve definitely witnessed a lot of marketing activity for the brand! 

We’re really excited about the future for Butlin’s Conferences & Events at our three resorts. Event planners can expect everything they need to host an incredible and unforgettable conference or event. They are going to have a choice of comfortable accommodation across our resorts varying from hotels, lakeside chalets and apartments. We have dedicated conference and events planners at each resort, show-stopping AV in our large show venues and the jewel in the crown is our brand new venue “Studio 36”.  

This 1600-seater venue has already had amazing feedback from industry peers who have viewed the venue. This year we are going to run multiple incentives for agents and our corporate clients where everyone has a chance to win a break of their choice. The prize includes any of our family breaks or one of our Butlin’s Big Weekenders, which are exclusively for adults including breaks like Ibiza Legends Weekends, Ministry of Sound, Cream or brand new for 2022 Fatboy Slim presents All Back To Minehead. This is year is going to be big at Butlins! 

Where can event planners see you this year to learn more? 

We’ll be engaging with the industry as much as possible. We’re keen to meet event professionals and get them booked in for a resort tour .This year we’ll be attending as many shows as possible. We will be at Confex, The BNC Shows, The Meetings Show, CHS Leeds & Birmingham, The Event Organisers Summit, The PA Summit and the M&IT Agency Challenge. And we’re delighted to announce that for the first time, Butlin’s will be at EventIT, Edinburgh which we are very excited about.
