What is your job title
 
Corporate Events Manager

Describe your day to day duties
 
Day to day, I manage the busy event office at The Elvetham, looking after a team of dedicated event specialists who are on hand to help tailor the perfect meeting, event or team building activity to the clients exact specification. Each year, we plan and host hundreds of different events and no two are the same, which is what makes my job so rewarding!

How long have you worked in the sector?
 
I have worked in the industry for 10 years and cannot think of an industry that I would rather be working in. As I have said, each day is different and brings a new challenge! 

When and why did you decide to join the mia? Do you remember how you heard about the association?
 
We joined the association to give us additional credibility, as we were finding lots of large companies and agencies needed some form of accreditation when booking their venues and the MiA and AiM scheme were exactly what we were looking for.
 
We heard about the association through various trade shows that The Elvetham has attended in the past, where we got chatting to the friendly mia team about the benefits of membership.

What do you value most about your mia membership? (insight, events, peer recognition, sales opportunities, benchmarking etc.)
 
We like the accreditation side of our MiA membership, but also find the sales opportunities and industry insights invaluable.

What is exciting you about the meetings and events industry at the moment?
 
The resurgence in teambuilding is particularly exciting at the moment, and the huge array of different activities on offer mean that all businesses can benefit from getting out of the office and having some fun. Here at The Elvetham, our 35 acres and training facilities are perfect for a whole host of indoor and outdoor activities.

What do you think are the greatest challenges that the industry is currently facing?
 
Keeping up with rapidly technology is changing is a huge challenge. We are always trying to ensure we are offering our clients the very best meeting experience with all the latest tech, in historical surroundings!

What’s your favourite meeting destination?
 
Hampshire, of course – I think it offers the perfect balance of countryside and space to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, but with excellent transport links to both Heathrow and Central London.
