When it comes to events, there’s no denying that 2012 is the UK’s year; events don’t come much bigger than the Olympics and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee is a truly historic occasion that everyone can take part it. It’s a great time to be in the UK meetings and events industry, so let’s tell them what we’re doing.

A Spirit for Celebration

A press release from the Department of Culture Media and Sports quotes the Queen as saying, “In the year of the Diamond Jubilee, Prince Philip and I will continue to take part in celebrations across the United Kingdom.” Celebrations are set to continue throughout the year, on the four day weekend of the Jubilee in June alone, there is a River Pageant on the Thames, the Big Jubilee Lunch, a concert a Buckingham Palace and more than 2012 beacons will be lit across the UK and the Commonwealth. These are all the official celebrations, but plenty of mia members will be involved in many ways and we would like to create for this newsletter a mosaic of our members’ Jubilee and Olympic activities, so please tell us you are doing.
