A new marketing and PR drive, led by York and Scarborough Conferences and supported by Welcome to Yorkshire, has attracted a number of high profile events to York, Scarborough and North Yorkshire, across a range of industry sectors including medical, corporate and public sector.York and Scarborough has been chosen over and above other UK destinations to host prestigious events in 2010 such as the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry, the Royal College of Surgeons and the British Thoracic Society.

“York and Scarborough is proving to be a popular destination for all types of events and conferences due to the varied choice of meeting venues and the unique settings we provide. The history and culture associated with our area and the stunning backdrop this offers is a big attraction to event and conference organisers. We are promoting the area through sales calls, e marketing, familiarisation visits and a public relations campaign and we’re delighted with the results so far.”
Other events planned for 2010 include the National Council for Divorced, Separated and Widowed, The National Association of Probation Officers, the 8th Destroyer Flotilla Association Re-union and three Rotary District conferences who will be hosting three day events for over 1000 delegates throughout the year.
The newly refurbished Scarborough Spa, overlooking the South Bay, has proved a popular location for many conferences of 300 or more delegates. Meanwhile the National Railway Museum in York is hosting several prestigious gala dinners.
