York’s five-star Hotel prepares to raise a (different) glass of gin
every day throughout January 2017
With the Christmas turkey finally finished and the New Year celebrations done and dusted, heading into January can be a distinctly dull prospect – but that’s certainly not the case this January at The Grand Hotel & Spa in York.
Yorkshire’s only-five star hotel is set to present ‘Ginuary’ – a whole month’s worth of fabulous cocktails celebrating and exploring the huge choice of gins now available, with a different cocktail creation for every day of January.
The Grand’s team of bar tenders have devised and perfected 31 cocktails using different gins from Yorkshire, around the UK and across the world, demonstrating the versatility of this increasingly popular spirit and showcasing their expertise and flair. From mixing the perfect, classic G&T to concoctions using the intriguingly named Little Bird, Wire Works, Exiles, Three Corners and Eccentric and a myriad of mixers and garnishes – there’s not only a gin for every day, there’s something to tickle all taste buds.
Upping the ‘gindulgence’ levels even further, there’s also the hard-to-resist temptation of combining two great taste experiences – gin and the Grand’s renowned afternoon tea; the chance to mix gin-infused cakes with your choice of tea or a tipple is available throughout January.
And if you’d like to get hands-on and learn to mix, shake and stir your own bespoke gin creations, the hotel’s Gin & Tonic Cocktail Kitchen is a chance for pre-booked groups of 6 – 20 wannabe mixologists to get to grips with different gins and an array of accompaniments under the professional tutelage of the Grand’s expert bar tenders.
Louise Gee, the Grand’s Sales Manager, said “The Grand’s ‘Ginuary’ is our way of helping to ease the post-Christmas and New Year come-down, with a fun month of new and creative ways to enjoy one of the best-loved tipples around. From tasting and discovering new gins, to crafting your own cocktails, or ‘gindulging’ in a gin-infused afternoon tea, there are lots of Grand ways to beat the January blues”.
Open to both non-residents and to guests staying at The Grand Hotel & Spa, ‘Ginuary’ promises to be filled with post-Christmas spirit.
