The Derby Conference Centre has now completed all stages of their refurbishment, with the creation of Derby’s first ever Business Lounge. A space specifically designed for Business Professionals to focus on work without any distractions.
This was followed by the refurbishment of Washroom facilities, Bar & Bistro area and Reception area.
The final major part of the project was to restore the Art Deco Lecture Theatre at the Centre to its original décor but to also give the room a new layout. This work has now been completed and provides more flexible space for conference delegates. As the facility is no longer a fixed Lecture Theatre, the team at the Conference Centre have renamed the facility the Hamlyn Suite. This is after William H Hamlyn who designed the building, which opened back in 1938 as the LMS School of Transport.
Mike Ebbitt, Managing Director of the Derby Conference Centre, part of the RTC Group, stated,
“We have a fantastic Art Deco facility here for the Businesses of Derby, not only Conference Rooms and a Hotel but our brand new Business Lounge and also rented office space.”
“Our aim was to improve and expand on the Business environment and product that we currently offer and this is something we have most certainly achieved to a very high standard.”
“The feedback we are receiving from our clients is very positive so far and we look forward to welcoming them in to see further works that have been completed.”
The works have been completed in time for the Conference Centre’s 10thnext year.
