26th November 15, UK: Organisers of International Confex are promising to light up the events industry next spring with the launch of UK Events Week, a week-long celebration and spotlight on the entirety of the UK Events Industry taking place from 29th Feb to 4th March.

The week will include International Confex and Event Production Show and comes fittingly at the culmination of Britain for Events, the hugely influential self-promotional campaign for the events industry.

UK Events Week will use events to sell and celebrate events with a week long programme of board room discussions, chat rooms, celebrations, seminars, conferences and mini exhibitions. Sessions will have representatives from key industry figures and C level execs from multi-national corporates, the top 20 event agencies, PCOs, associations, leading venues, government and media.

UK Events Week will be curated by senior industry and media professionals including Nick de Bois, Chairman of the new Events Industry Board, Mike Fletcher and Alistair Turner, ISES UK President Elect.

Broadly divided into three main streams of ‘Business’, ‘Marketing’ and ‘Industry’, events already scheduled range from a Chief Executive Dinner on how CEs view the events industry, with participants from the UK’s largest companies, to a presentation from UK Sport on how they pull together a match winning bid team, an ideal forum for venues and destinations to look at new perspectives on the event pitch process.

“International Confex and EPS already attract over 10,000 event industry professionals to West London from all over the UK” comments Event Director, Liz Agostini “It makes perfect sense when the two largest shows are in town to extrapolate from these two days and expand the stage for the UK Events Industry, providing a week long forum as a home for debate, discussion, education and celebration of an industry which makes such a significant contribution to the UK Economy.”

Meanwhile, International Confex is already projecting a growth in floor space again, with a large increase in new exhibitors and returning exhibitors increasing both the size and impact of their stands. The Event Production Show which has moved to a larger space in Olympia National has already sold out completely on the ground floor with over 40% of the exhibitors attending the show for the first time.

“The feedback that we have from our visitors is that Confex is not only a “must-attend” but more importantly, a real “want to attend”. Confex transcends the pure transactional, with business being conducted and deals signed in an environment that is vibrant, exciting, social and inspirational.”

Confex will also be unveiling technological innovation, expanding the largest marketplace of event tech at any MICE show worldwide to create a “show within a show” with Eventech 16 which will span both Confex and EPS, giving visitors a view of the latest cutting edge technology that will be influencing their events for years to come. “We’re going to be both showcasing and trialling some of the most innovative and exciting tech companies around the world at Confex. It’s a massive part of the visitor experience and something we’re really looking forward to delivering on,” continues Agostini.

Other features of Confex include the return and expansion of the Association Events Forum in partnership with Associations Network which was hugely successful in its inaugural outing this year, attracting over 180 association events planners in a day packed with content, the AEO Sales Conference, offering relevant and inspirational education for event sales professionals at all levels and the Business Travel Theatre, debating once again the role of the airlines, travel providers and agencies in supporting and driving the meetings industry.

“We’re investing heavily in the show experience to create an environment that not only represents, but reflects the very best of this creative, dynamic and inspirational industry,” concludes Agostini. “A lot of the research we have conducted on the show has highlighted the exceptional dwell time of our visitors, this reflects how absorbing the show has become and we will continue to build and consolidate this element of the Confex offering.“

UK Events Week will also be open to all interested parties who wish to add their own events to the programme with promotion via the UK Events Week website.
